Arindam Chakravarty is a young and versatile virtuoso representing Indian Classical Music in the field of Tabla from Kolkata, India. He has been a student of Acharya Pandit Shankar Ghosh ji for 26 years. Additionally, he took lessons in Carnatic Music from Vidwan S. Sekhar. Arindam has been performing and teaching for the last 20years. Currently, he is the senior faculty in Instrumental Music in Tabla at the Malhaar Centre for Performing Arts in Dubai. He has traveled to Japan, Borneo, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, the UAE, Thailand, and other parts of the world, representing Indian music. An “A” graded artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan, he is also an empanelled artist of the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC) and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in the established artiste category.
He is a Senior National Scholar from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and an empanelled artiste of the Regional Outreach Bureau from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. He has received several accolades, including the National Outstanding Award for Indian Classical Art Form in Tabla, the “Gana Yogi Panchakshari Kala Vikas Purashkar” from Karnataka, and the “Taal Mani” Award from Mumbai, as well as the “Sangeet Gaurav” – Pride of West Bengal Samman. Arindam is a versatile performer and trainer dedicated to promoting Indian classical music. He has performed alongside renowned musicians like Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Ustad Shahid Parvez, and others at various festivals in Japan and beyond. His collaborations extend to international artists such as Dallas Smith and Daphne Tse, reflecting his vision of sharing his expertise and music globally.
